The Campaign to Stop Killer Robots and Soka Gakkai International are excited to co-host the next Humanitarian Disarmament Forum on 19-21 October 2020.
This will be the first Humanitarian Disarmament Forum to be livestreamed. If feasible, the face-to-face Forum will be held in New York on those dates, but it’s too soon to say if it will be safe to do so by then given the rapid spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
Every Forum has sought to substantively explore a cross-cutting challenge and collectively identify solutions including practical measures. The overarching goal has been to educate and energize activists from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and global NGO coalitions working to advance humanitarian disarmament and protect civilians from armed violence.
The 2020 Humanitarian Disarmament Forum will focus on diversity—particularly race—and how to be more intersectional in working to advance humanitarian disarmament. Intersectionality is a concept that acknowledges all forms of oppression such as ableism, classism, misogyny, and racism; and examines how these oppressions operate in combination.
